early April 2006

During the Easter break Jo De Baerdemaeker, a PhD student in the Department, ran a very successful two-week Nepali typeface design training course in Kathmandu (Nepal) for the Faculty of Maths and Computing of the Open University. The project is in collaboration with Dr. Fiona Ross and Professor Patrick Hall of the OU. The trip proved to be a wonderful experience that enhanced both Jo's knowledge of typeface design for non-Latin scripts and his teaching skills, but was also very beneficial for his own research in Tibetan typeforms.
